Haere mai ki te kai!

To celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori in 2020, Ako Panuku created this taotaka kai (menu) to encourage te reo Māori in the classroom. Each day of the week you will be sent a daily menu with a new list of kai (activities) to use with your students.

Like all ‘menus’, you will be offered a selection of short activities that can be used to form a lesson, graduating from a ‘starter’ through to a ‘dessert’ OR select one or two activities to add to your daily plan. Kai a koe te tikanga!

HOW TO USE:

  • Below are the names for each section of the daily menu and what you can expect to find.
  • Click one activity from each of the four courses to deliver as a short lesson sequence for your students.
  • Alternatively, select activities to add to your daily plan.

A ringa kura toro A starter, a beginning to the lesson
A waha kua kai An energiser
A korokoro kua horo A ‘main’, a communicative activity
A ngao kua tōkenekenetia An activity to end the lesson
